Montgomery County Public Schools, Maryland
The YOP digital storytelling workshop in Montgomery County was framed by the role of the district’s AOIT Advisory Board and the support it provides for new AOIT programs. Thanks to the county-wide increase in AOIT programs and the requirement that NAF Academies provide internships as part of the Academy curriculum, AOIT programs anticipate requiring upwards of 300 internships annually in the coming years.
To meet this requirement, a cornerstone of the MCPS AOIT Board’s strategic plan involves creating local, site-based support for individual Academy programs. Board members will be assigned to individual schools and will help to network and build relationships for each program in addition to continuing to provide high-level direction via their contributions at the district level.
Workshop participants Lauri Friedman from Seneca Valley High School and Cynthia Hunter from Wootton High School participated in the AOIT Advisory Board meeting and took part in the YOP workshop, creating recruitment films for their programs. Click on the links below to view the work they produced.
