In this presentation, AOHT teacher Melody Cockrell describes a curriculum extension activity called “The Big ‘D’ Scavenger Hunt”. Melody makes key hospitality and tourism concepts such as “destination” and “target market” come alive for her students as they document tourist sites throughout the city of Dallas. Back in the classroom, students create multimedia presentations showcasing this destination’s appeal for their target market: high school students.

In this presentation, English teacher Jennifer Dick describes a multimedia resume portfolio project that she designed for her AOIT students. Jennifer explains the project’s cross–curricular components as she breaks the project steps out in weekly increments. The end result showcases students’ skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, and professional design for potential job and internship employers.

Listen as Ms. Thew outlines the Pelican Point Mall project, a project based extension to the Financial Services class that allows her finance students to explore different aspects of business and entrepreneurship by simulating the start of their own mall-based store.
