Project Based Learning > Digital Storytelling > YOP > New Academy Orientation

New Academy Orientation, March 2006, Newark, NJ

In order to deepen its understanding of the Digital Storytelling process as an instructional best practice, two New York staff members worked with 12 NAF representatives from across the country to create a short video about the YOP experience.

While the workshop for YOP teams focused on the creation of a recruitment video, this activity was organized as a project-based inquiry and communications project in support of the YOP program at large. Participants from across the NAF organization were asked to speak about the YOP with particular emphasis on teams, partner engagement, the internship experience, and the connection between the YOP process and successful school reform.

Interviews were captured at NAF’s New Academy Orientation meeting in Newark, NJ, and the film was completed the following week at the NAF offices in New York. Click on the image below to view the YOP video created by the NAF staff members Wendy Hedges and Colleen Devery.
