Academy Development
The National Academy Foundation’s Academy Development Model helps engaged schools and district leaders, along with strategic business partners, understand how to introduce, grow, and sustain the NAF Academy Model in their communities. There are several programs in place to assist Academy teams develop their programs. The Year of Planning (YOP) introduces new school teams to the NAF model for building effective SLCs and strong career-themed pathway programs. The Academy Redesign Cohort (ARC) is a pilot program in 2009-2010 that will apply the YOP model to Academies in the NAF network. The ASPIRE program provides direct support to a select group of schools and teams with the capacity to become high-performing lead sites in the NAF network. In addition, NAF provides self-directed and collaborative tools for schools and partners to use in enhancing their Academies.
Membership Development
NAF’s Membership Development model seeks to provide better and more targeted services to its Academies. Under this model, each Academy will take an annual self-assessment, which will be used in conjunction with other school based data, to determine where it fits in a continuum of model development.
